VMware to acquire Pivotal, Carbon Black for USD 4.6 billion

(Telecompaper) VMware announced that it has entered into agreements to acquire Pivotal and Carbon Black, for respectively USD 2.7 billion and USD 1.9 billion. The company said the takeovers will address key strategic IT priorities — building apps with a modern approach and protecting enterprise workloads and clients. 

Apple plans ‘Pro’ iPhone models in September, more new hardware by year-end – report

(Telecompaper) Apple is planning a range of new hardware products before year-end in an attempt to kickstart its sales, Bloomberg reported citing people familiar with the matter. These include new ‘Pro’ models of the iPhone expected in September, as well as refreshed versions of the iPad Pro, an entry-level iPad with a larger screen, new versions of the Apple Watch, and a cheaper HomePod coming next year.
