Sunrise grows service revenues, EBITDA 3% in Q2, sees higher synergies from UPC deal
(Telecompaper) Swiss operator Sunrise said that its service revenues grew by 3.1 percent in Q2 as a result of an increase in the number of subscriptions for mobile postpaid, TV and internet, and B2B revenue growth. However, total revenues fell by 1.7 percent year-on-year to CHF 455 million, due to reduced hubbing and mobile hardware sales, both carrying low profitability.
LG unveils new versions of mid-range K50 and K40 smartphones
(Telecompaper) LG has announced the upcoming launch of two new handsets in its mid-range ‘K Series’ ahead of IFA 2019 in September. The K50S and K40S Android 9 smartphones will offer “enhanced screens and more versatile cameras” as well as minimal bezels and “friendlier prices”, said the company. The LG K40S comes with a 6.1 inch HD+ display, a 2GHz octa core processor, 3500 mAh battery and either 2GB or 3GB of RAM plus 32GB of storage. It’s also equipped with a dual camera (13+5 MP) setup on the back and a 13 megapixel front-facing camera.
SK Telecom passes 1 million 5G subscribers milestone
(Telecompaper) South Korean operator SK Telecom announced it has passed the milestone of 1 million 5G subscribers in the first 140 days since the launch of its 5G network on 3 April. The company’s 5G subscribers account for more than 3.5 percent of SK Telecom’s total subscriber base of 28 million.
