KPN names Proximus’s Dominique Leroy its new CEO

(Telecompaper) KPN has appointed Dominique Leroy the company’s new CEO from 1 December. Leroy will succeed Maximo Ibarra Ibarra, who left the company on 30 September for Sky Italia, where he started working as CEO on 1 October. Leroy will join KPN from Belgium’s Proximus (formerly Belgacom), where she has been CEO since 2014. Before that, Leroy served 24 years at Unilever.

Deutsche Telekom launches own Magenta smart speaker at IFA

(Telecompaper) Deutsche Telekom has launched its own smart speaker at the IFA show in Berlin. The long-delayed Magenta speaker – co-developed with Orange – is the first smart speaker made in Europe, the company says. It’s offering it at the discounted price of EUR 99 until the end of October, and then EUR 149.99.
