(Telecompaper) Colombia’s Ministry of Information Technology and Communications (Mintic) has announced that it will finally be holding a long-delayed auction for LTE spectrum in the 700MHz, 1.9GHz and 2.5GHz bands on 12 December 2019. The tender follows the approval of Colombia’s new ICT law earlier this year containing numerous initiatives designed to bridge the country’s digital divide and implement the president Ivan Duque’s election pledge to bring internet to 100 percent of Colombians by 2022.
Cyber security company Sophos confirms USD 3.9 billion takeover offer
(Telecompaper) Sophos, the global cyber security software provider, has confirmed a takeover offer of USD 7.40 per share from US-based private equity company Thoma Bravo, valuing the company at around USD 3.9 billion. (Telecompaper) A Madrid commercial court has temporarily suspended Italian broadcaster Mediaset’s plan to merge its domestic and Spanish business into a Netherlands-based holding company following a legal challenge by shareholder Vivendi.
