(Telecompaper) ZTE reported revenues for the six months of 2019 up 13.1 percent to CNY 44.61 billion, while net profit more than doubled to CNY 1.47 billion. The company said it expects net profit over the first nine months of the year to grow to CNY 3.8-4.6 billion, helped by part by a real estate sale.

The company’s previous model, the Fairphone 2, nearly sold out in April, after launching in 2015 and selling around 100,000 units. The model offered a modular build to simplify repairs and extend its life. The new phone is thinner and gives a more contemporary design.
France agrees compromise with US on digital tax
(Telecompaper) French President Emmanuel Macron told the press at the G7 summit that a new deal has been reached for companies liable for the country’s new tax on digital sales, which has recently come into force, while work at the OECD continues to find an international consensus on new tax rules. France will commit to pay a rebate if the amount due based on future rules is less than what companies will have already paid under the country’s current 3 percent digital tax rate.
