Google introduces Nest Wifi router as new smart home hub

(Telecompaper) Google is rebranding its Wi-Fi router under the Nest name, in an attempt to turn the device into a hub for the smart home. The new Nest Wifi offers a router with mesh networking points, as well as an integrated speaker in order to access the Google Assistant. The speaker is the same as the new Nest Mini, a rebrand of the Google Home Mini.

Hong Kong grants 5G spectrum licenses in 3.5 GHz band

(Telecompaper) Hong Kong’s Office of the Communications Authority (OFCA) has announced that a total of 200 MHz of spectrum in the 3.5 GHz band was successfully auctioned off to four mobile network operators. The total spectrum utilization fees (SUFs) amount to HKD 1.006 billion. China Mobile Hong Kong (CMHK), Hong Kong Telecommunications (HKT), Hutchison Telephone Company Limited (HTCL) and SmarTone Mobile Communications took part in the 3.5 GHz band auction.

Huawei Nova 5T to launch in Europe with full Google services

(Telecompaper) Huawei’s Nova 5T smartphone is set to launch soon in Europe, coming next month to the UK from GBP 399, Mobile News reported. The phone, equipped with five AI cameras and sporting an array of iridescent colours, will also come with full Google services, with Android 9 Pie OS. No official launch data has been given but the phone will in the UK be available at EE, Vodafone, O2 UK, Carphone Warehouse, Argos, Amazon, John Lewis and Shops Direct.
